Pickles & Ice Cream® Proudly Arrives to Brooklyn, New York

Brooklyn Pickles & Ice Cream Maternity StoreOne of Brooklyn's newest retailers is sure to satiate every expectant mommy's craving for cute, different and fashion forward apparel. Pickles & Ice Cream has now expanded to the East Coast, with its latest boutique opening in Brooklyn. Well-known for bringing fun and fashion to expectant moms across Texas and the Southeast, the first New York location is well on it’s way to treating the Tri-State area mommies to the best of both worlds: New York style with a hint of Southern hospitality. This Ave U Brooklyn location joins nine other Pickles & Ice Cream boutiques, including an online boutique, to deliver designer maternity apparel, nursing essentials, and accessories to moms-to-be.

Owned and operated by Laurie Esses of Brooklyn, this boutique offers much more than just great maternity skirts, pants, dresses and tops. Being a mother of twin 3 year old girls and expecting again, Laurie knows first hand how important it is to have accessories and nursing products available to her “locally”. “Many of our customers have been so happy to see things in our store that they don’t have to go into Manhattan for,” says Esses. This boutique carries everything from Bravado lingerie, Preggie Drops, Bebe Au Lait nursing covers, Hotslings, Mama Mio and Mi Mambino skin care products to MomEz support belts and Spanx and Diaper Bags. That’s just to name a few! “We really believe in being an all-encompassing stop for our pregnant mommies at PIC…this wide selection and our customer service have made PIC what it is today,” says Song Pardue, CEO of Dallas based Pickles & Ice Cream.

For this neighborhood Brooklyn store, we focused not only on tailoring the clothing selection for the Jewish community, but for all pregnant women within 30 miles of Brooklyn in all directions. Through demographic studies, PIC did find that pregnant women traveled up to 45 minutes to visit their stores. “We love our mommies who stop in after lunching at Wendy’s Plate and we are also grateful for our mommies who come from Jersey and Brooklyn Heights. Thank God,” says Esses. “I want mommies from all over to see us as not only as a clothing store but a resource for nursing needs, sleepwear, and even slippers for the hospital,” adds Esses.

At Pickles & Ice Cream, understanding pregnancy is the culture. The owner-operators are all women who have experienced being pregnant, given birth and are now happily helping the next group of expectant mothers in any way they can. Due in December with just one baby this time, Esses says “I love talking to other pregnant mommies and comparing stories about our kids, and sometimes our bellies even.” Every PIC store, including this one, has a small play area with a TV to entertain babies while mommies shop stress-free.

Pardue feels extremely fortunate to have such dedicated and hard-working franchisees in Laurie & Jack Esses as part of the Pickles family. “We knew our franchisees for the first NY store would have to be special. They not only understand our concept and love our philosophy, but they believe in work being fun.”
