OOH LA LA, MAMA!
OOH LA LA, MAMA! Maternity Wear Meets The Designer Challenge. Pickles & Ice Cream's CEO and resident fashion expert, Song Pardue, offers her expert opinion on maternity trends in Women's Wear Daily. For an insightful look into the latest fashion cravings of Moms-2-Be, read the article at Women's Wear Daily (it's on page 2). Here are a couple of Song's pearls of wisdom:
...Song Pardue, founder and CEO of Pickles & Ice Cream, a maternity boutique chain and online store, says there has been a lot of growth in casual and business-casual attire. “Our mommies are passing on suits and building their maternity wardrobe with separates, and then mixing-and-matching those pieces to create several new looks,” says Pardue. “In this economy, our customers want pieces that can be worn multiple ways.”
...Pardue adds that sales in her better and designer bottoms have increased in the last two years. “Fashion is where mommies are willing to spend... even in a battered economy,” she notes. “We offer these higher price-point pieces to pair with lower-priced basics. Women justify the expensive jeans [because] they’ll get tons of wear and look hip.”
...Pardue says Pickles & Ice Cream’s key players are seamless knits, tissue jerseys and supima cottons. Fit2BMom yoga wear is hot, as are tops featuring candy colors, ruffles, side-ruching or banded-bottoms that accentuate the growing belly.
